Mentor Subsea and Ocean Resources Limited (ORL) are supplying the worldwide market with TUBS: The Universal Buoy System, a range of offshore buoy based production systems.

With a joint portfolio of expertise and technologies, this highly developed team is already working on the production control buoy for field development projects. The production control buoy can be configured to supply remote power and unmanned operation through telecommunication and telemetry, eliminating the cost of long distance control/chemical injection umbilicals. The buoy concept encompasses a practical design that can be easily removed and relocated, allowing it's cost to be depreciated over multiple fields.

The TUBS Range includes:

  • SEA COMMANDER: Control of a remote satellite development negating the umbilical requirements from the host facility
  • C-FAST BUOY: Reservoir pressure maintenance and water flood operations by means of minimally treated seawater injection
  • SEA BOOSTER: Production pressure boosting power distribution system for either down hole ESPs or muddling supported multiphase pumping systems
  • SEA PRODUCER: Production processing for onward transportation to the host facility, into a trunkline system or subsea storage for shuttle tanker export
  • SEA INTERVENER: Gravity base, manifold equipment intervention, retrieval, installation and test
  • SEA DEEP: The full TUBS range of buoy systems is available, as the Sea DEEP range, for deployment in deepwater (3,300' to 10,000')

Buoy Conclusions:

  • Application - Cost effective method for marginal field development
  • Improved CAPEX & OPEX
  • Standard field proven equipment designs (off the shelf)
  • Flow assurance issues simplified
  • Control & data acquisition easily accomplished
  • Standard power distribution system
  • Various concept capabilities for alternative field developments
  • Reusable asset depreciation over multiple fields
